Mental Health Awareness Month

Throughout the whole of May many businesses, schools, and organisations will be creating awareness for people that have experienced trauma that has impacted their physical, emotional, and mental well-being.

This is your chance to show your support for people that have and are experiencing mental health difficulties. It’s important to note that this day isn’t just for those experiencing mental health difficulties but to create awareness of coping mechanisms for families, friends, and even schools and work environments. Showing how we can help each other can hopefully create a network of support, and create a safe place to talk.

World Bee Day

20th May

Pollination is a vital process that keeps our ecosystems going. “Nearly 90% of the world’s wild flowering plant species depend, entirely, or at least in part, on animal pollination.” Not only this but pollinators, such as bees, butterflies, bats, and hummingbirds, are the key to biodiversity and food security. Therefore, it’s only right we celebrate one of the main contributors to the pollination community, the busy bee.

Take this day to raise awareness of the importance of pollinators, the threats they are facing, and how we can protect them. By doing this we could try to reduce the threat they are facing of becoming extinct.

A way your business could support this cause, is to support a hive or donate to save the bees, and share this on your socials. Click here to learn more about what you can do to support the bees and other pollinators.

National Biscuit Day

29th May

One of the most underrated snacks is a biscuit, it can cure a hungry stomach for another 10 minutes while you’re waiting for your dinner to cook, or lunchtime to arrive. As well as this, there are so many to choose from! So surely it deserves a day to be celebrated.

From a recent survey, the top 5 biscuits were:

  1. Chocolate Digestive
  2. Chocolate Hobnob
  3. Jammie Dodger
  4. Custard Cream
  5. Shortbread
History of the Biscuit:

The biscuit has been found to go back to as early as the Neolithic era and has grown to be a popular snack in history. The Romans enjoyed a form of biscuit we would now call a rusk. It was essentially a rebaked piece of bread, making it crispy, this would usually be used for a soldier's ration.

This is a fun day to be celebrating in May and is a great chance to interact with your audience, you could create a poll on what your followers' favourite biscuit is. Or why not treat your employees to a packet of biscuits and add it to your socials, it’s a great way to capture workplace culture, which is a selling point for future employees.
